Race to the Top

These posts are dedicated to Race to the Top, which is turning out EXACTLY the way I'd hoped – it is truly STUNNING the tidal wave of reform that's sweeping the country!

 

With the first round of applications due in only 10 days, numerous states are taking REALLY bold steps to reform their K-12 public schools (including charter schools) and better position themselves to win big money.  It's clear to me that the Obama administration means business and therefore states that take half-hearted measures will get nothing and have to reapply in the second round (note that if a state gets any money in the first round, it can't apply in the second round, so states with weak applications will actually be better off getting nothing rather than a token amount in the first).
