New Schools for New Orleans

This sounds like a great program:

Dear Friends & Colleagues,

I am working on the start-up of a new organization, called “New Schools for New Orleans”, which has formed to provide support and assistance to the multitude of charter schools now taking root in New Orleans as a key rebuilding solution for public schools post-Katrina.  The silver lining of the levees breaking is truly an opportunity to rebuild a failing school system – it is now estimated that as many as 70% of the public schools in New Orleans this Fall will be charter schools.

While these schools are boldly led by passionate principals and community leaders, many are in need of support as they struggle to operate effectively with no central district administration.  As an immediate response to these needs, New Schools for New Orleans (NSNO) has already initiated a national teacher recruitment campaign (www.teachnola.org), charter school board training, and business operations assistance.  We are very much in the business planning stage and will continue to expand and focus the scope of NSNO services to best serve the academic and operational excellence of public schools in New Orleans.

As a burgeoning organization, NSNO is seeking a Chief Operating Officer to take the helm of day-to-day operations and drive the organization forward into this brave new world of public education in New Orleans.  Please see the attached job description and pass it along to your networks to assist us in identifying strong candidates.  Your assistance in this effort is greatly appreciated!

Best Regards,

Ben
