NY Math scores
The NY state math test scores are out -- you can download them at http://www.emsc.nysed.gov/irts/ela-math/math-06/districts/home.html
I haven't had a chance to go through all of it, but as a board member of KIPP in New York, I always check the scores of our four schools in NYC first. After being numbers 1, 2, 3 and 5 among charter middle schools in the % of students at or above grade level in ELA (Reading) (released a few weeks ago), here are the results in Math:
KIPP Academy
Grade 5: 92.3%
Grade 6: 98.4%
Grade 7: 87.1%
Grade 8: 85.9%
KIPP STAR
Grade 5: 76.6%
Grade 6: 73.4%
Grade 7: 81.5%
KIPP Infinity
5th grade: 98.7%
KIPP AMP
5th grade: 94.0%
Nice!
For you data junkies, attached are some slides (I don't know who put them together) with more detailed analysis of the ELA and Math results.
Here's the NYT article on the results -- some good news for NYC (though year-to-year comparisons are hard):
In New York City, 57 percent of students were proficient on the math exams, outperforming the state’s other large urban districts. “Today’s math results, I think, represent real progress,” the schools chancellor, Joel I. Klein, said at a news conference.

Scores on State Math Tests Dip With Districts’ Income
The first results of a new set of New York State math exams show about two-thirds of students performing at grade level, with striking disparities between rich and poor school districts, according to scores released yesterday.
