A Roosevelt House Book Discussion with Beth Fertig, James Forman, Jr,. and Joseph Viteritti, Moderator

My friend James Forman and two others will be discussing the new book, Why cant U teach me 2 read? (which I just ordered at www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/ASIN/0374299056/tilsoncapitalpar), on Tuesday, March 16th at 6pm in NYC – see invite at the end of this email.  Here's a summary of the book:

Why cant U teach me 2 read? is a stirring account of three New York City students who legally challenged the school system for failing to teach them to read by the time they got to high school.  Beth Fertig tells the inspiring story of the students' struggle to learn to read before it is too late and also chronicles the troubling changes in our nation's schools brought about by reliance on standardized testing.
