FL NAEP data

Some amazing data from Florida, courtesy of former governor Jeb Bush, who writes: "Here are the NAEP scores by subgroups.  Pretty amazing when you consider where we were 10 years ago, which was near the bottom in both 8^th and 4^th grade. This is a story of the results of comprehensive reform."

Here are the scores with how many states were in each category. Some states did not meet reporting standards for particular subgroups. Disabled and low-income students were based on all states + D.C.
 
Hispanic students outperformed or tied:

·         all but 1 state in 4th grade math (out of 45 states + D.C.)

·         all but 7 states in 8th grade math (out of 44 states + D.C.)

·         all states in 4th grade reading (out of 46 states + D.C.)

·         all but 1 state in 8th grade reading (out of 42 states + D.C.)

Black students outperformed or tied:

·         all but 3 states in 4th math (out of 44 states + D.C.)

·         all but 11 states in 8th math (out of 42 states + D.C.)

·         all but 7 states in 4th reading (out of 45 states + D.C.)

·         all but 4 states in 8th reading (out of 41 states + D.C.)

English Language Learners outperformed or tied:

·         all but 10 states in 4th math (out of 41 states + D.C.)

·         all but 17 states in 8th math (out of 33 states)

·         all but 2 states in 4th reading (out of 39 states + D.C.)

·         all but 5 states in 8th reading (out of 27 states)

Disabled students outperformed or tied:

·         all but 4 states in 4th math

·         all but 21 states in 8th math

·         all but 4 states in 4th reading

·         all but 8 states in 8th reading

Low-income students (qualifying for free/reduced lunch) outperformed or tied:

·         all but 4 states in 4th math

·         all but 21 states in 8th math

·         all but 4 states in 4th reading

·         all but 8 states in 8th reading
