All-too-common story

My last email triggered this all-too-common story from a friend in LA:

We had a young Teach America woman in our choir. She took over for the union hack (who took paid leave) and brought the kids the from 30% level the hack had them at and took them up to the 85% level in one year. Then she got fired because the money went south and the hack went back to screw up the kids--she had seniority. The fired teacher was so hurt. She asked me how this could happen and I replied, "Honey, these are your people; I'm a Republican" (she was a good Liberal). I could go on and on.
