Ed Reformer of the month

Please support DFER's latest Ed Reformer of the Month:

Friends,

Wisconsin State Representative Jason Fields was a Democrat for Education Reform long before it was cool.

In 2004, he ran for the assembly on a platform of take-no-prisoners change to the way we educate the children of Milwaukee's northwest side. He was elected resoundingly and is serving his fourth term now. In his third term, he helped to found DFER's Wisconsin chapter.

Jason is guided by the radical notion that children, not adults, should be the primary consideration in education policy. To that end, he has been a tireless champion for better student outcomes and more quality parent options. He has been particularly effective in his work to strengthen Milwaukee's parent choice law and to improve the state's charter school law.

Jason is the kind of leader who brings other Democrats to the table. Earlier this year, when the Wisconsin legislature was finally able to put partisan acrimony aside and get back to work, he led a group of legislators from both houses to propose a bill that would create a statewide special needs scholarship program.

He's also the kind of Democrat who doesn't care if doing what's right means being the only one there.

Being a trailblazer isn't easy and Jason is up for reelection in 2012. Please click here to make a contribution today. Individual contribution limits are low in Wisconsin so every contribution – large or small – makes a huge difference.

Thanks again.

Joe
