Reps heart NEA
From Twitter during the mark-up:
PoliticsK12 Politics K-12
GOP Senate aide spotted hugging NEA lobbyist Mary Kusler after the vote on the Alexander amendment giving flex to states on turnarounds.
And from another friend:
On the issue of strange bedfellows and Ravitch's book, would you believe that during the ESEA markup, Rand Paul read a passage from Ravitch's book to drive home his point that NCLB and so-called top-down standards imposed upon states from DC are wrong. I almost fell out of my chair when he read the quote.
It is astonishing (and disheartening) to see that the Republican party has become so extreme that it's now willing to partner with the NEA!
