Democracy Prep Campaign

From my friend Seth Andew, founder of Democracy Prep:

As your regular readers may already know, Democracy Prep took on the state's first public charter school turnaround this summer. Essentially, after a decade of failing its students, the school predecessor (known as Harlem Day Charter) was due to be shut, and its students left without quality options. After a lengthy process, we were authorized by SUNY to turn it around and, in the process, change 270 lives.

Over the past six months, we have changed everything about the school except for its students and families who are desperate for a quality education. Though  it is still very early we are proud to say that our 270 scholars in East Harlem are now on the path to college.

But we're still just at the beginning of this turnaround journey, and we need your help in changing our student's lives. I sincerely hope you will join us and support Harlem Prep by coming to our event on March 6th at 6pm at Rouge Tomate. Tickets start at $173 and 100% of the proceeds will go to our scholars as the Board is underwriting the entire cost of the event.

I hope you will join us as we kick-off our turnaround campaign.

Best,

Seth
