Uncommon Schools is hiring

My friends at Uncommon Schools, a kick-ass charter school management organization, asked me to send out this announcement about the folks they're looking to hire.
-----------------------

Uncommon Schools, Inc. (USI) is a nonprofit charter management organization that starts and manages high-performing urban college preparatory charter schools. To accomplish this, USI builds tight networks of philosophically aligned schools so that principals and teachers can collaborate, benefit from common services, and focus on the urgent tasks of closing the racial academic achievement gap and preparing low-income students to succeed at the highest levels in college and beyond.  With the founders and former leaders of nationally recognized charter schools such as North Star Academy (Newark, NJ), Boston Collegiate Charter School (Boston, MA), and Roxbury Preparatory Charter School (Boston, MA), USI will launch 20 small charter schools over the next five years.  USI schools have:

  • A College Preparatory Mission
  • High Standards for Academics and Character
  • A Shared Focus on Accountability and Data-Driven Instruction
  • Rigorous Standards-Based Curricula
  • Highly Structured Learning Environments
  • Longer School Years and Longer School Days
  • A Faculty of Committed and Talented Teachers

If you are interested in TEACHING at one of our schools, if you are interested in LEADING one of our schools, or if you are interested in BUILDING our schools from the home office, we are always looking for all-stars to join our team.  Currently, we are hiring:

  • Director of Teacher & Principal Recruitment at the USI home office to recruit teachers, principals, and other employees for all USI schools in New York City, upstate New York, and Newark, NJ.
  • Director of Operations at the USI home office to oversee the operational start-up and the ongoing operations at all schools in conjunction with the school-based Directors of Operations.
  • Founding Principals to open and lead our schools.
  • School-Based Directors of Operations & Deans of Students to manage school operations and student, family, and teacher concerns.
  • Elementary, Middle, & High School Teachers to teach our students in all grade levels and subject areas.

If you are passionate about improving educational opportunities for historically underserved children and communities, please e-mail your resume and a brief cover letter to apply@uncommonschools.org

Learn more about us at www.uncommonschools.org.  We look forward to hearing from you.

Sincerely,

The Uncommon Schools Team
