An interesting comment
An interesting comment from a friend who works in a small NYC public school:
I just wanted to note that it is not just the archaic teacher's union rules (we really have a wonderful relationship with our teachers) but the other union rules around assistant principals and school aides that are arduous and back breaking. We excessed (fired) a teacher's aide three years ago and she is still in our office because DOE will not let us get rid of her for "just" incompetence. I thought I wanted to become a principal but now having worked in the trenches there is no way that I would put up with the work rules that the school principals have to put up with.
