Harlem Success honored

In total contrast to horror shows like Paul Robeson High School are the Harlem Success charter schools (currently four schools, expanding this summer to seven, including the first two in the Bronx), which are achieving nothing short of educational miracles (see my web page at: www.tilsonfunds.com/Personal/HarlemSuccess and www.harlemsuccess.org).  Eva Moskowitz and her two key backers, John Petry (who is also one of the co-founders of DFER) and Joel Greenblatt, were honored at the Council of Urban Professionals annual dinner on Thursday night (by the way, CUP (www.nycup.org) is a great nonprofit organization, representing and advocating for the social, political and economic interests of urban professionals; I was one of the founding board members).  Eva, John and Joel were introduced by Dennis Walcott, NYC Deputy Mayor for Education and Community Development, then there was a video about Harlem Success (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jiQijXTnZyo) and then John gave a great speech (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=T4SjTiZwskM).
