KIPP SPARK

I visited my 42nd KIPP on Wednesday, SPARK Academy elementary school in Newark, and brought my parents, who had never seen a KIPP.  What an incredible school!

It just kills me to think that the lucky children who won the lottery to get into this school have, I'd guess, an 85% chance of going to a four-year college and, of those, 75% will earn a degree, meaning that 64% will earn a four-year college degree vs. the children who lost the lottery, who have maybe a 5% chance.  The difference really is that vast – and the ONLY difference between these two groups of children is the school they attend.
