Rainwater Leadership Alliance’s A New Approach to Principal Preparation: Innovative Programs Share Their Practices and Lessons Learned

From Jacquelyn Davis:

I wanted to let you know about the release of the Rainwater Leadership Alliance's A New Approach to Principal Preparation: Innovative Programs Share Their Practices and Lessons Learned.   Featured programs hold themselves accountable for producing principals who are able to drive teacher effectiveness and student achievement.  This important new book can help program operators and architects within nonprofits, higher education, school districts, charter management organizations and states design programs that produce the principals the nation needs to improve student achievement and teacher quality.  The book can also assist policymakers at the federal, state and district level as they think about the conditions needed to help yield effective principals.

I am hoping you will mention this book in your blast as we're getting really positive feedback from some RTTT states, districts and CMOs about its usefulness in rethinking principal preparation.  To drive teacher effectiveness, we need a different kind of principal who knows how to recruit, select, develop and evaluate teachers in addition to creating the school conditions and culture that support learning.

A free copy can be ordered or the PDF can be downloaded at www.anewapproach.org.  On the site, chapters can be downloaded or the entire book.  I am also attaching the final PDFs in case you want to send those out with the link. The PDFs includes the cover, the full book and the executive summary.

Thanks for your help with the dissemination of this important book.

Best,
