Trip to LA

I just got back from an amazing 24 hours in LA.  Had a lot of fun with Caprice Young and Gloria Romero, among others, at the presentation on Monday night.  The CA Teachers Assoc. sent two people, one of whom said during the Q&A – I hope you're sitting down – "We don't have tenure.  After 18 months, our members gain the right to collectively bargain."  This is apparently the new union talking point out here – their surveys show that tenure is so unpopular that their new strategy is to simply DENY THAT IT EXISTS (while fighting like crazy to preserve it).  You can NOT make this stuff up!  I visited three ICEF charter schools and Green Dot's Locke high school yesterday – lots of photos and stories to share soon...
