Grim news in Texas, from a friend:

Hi Whitney, the Houston Independent School Board is voting again today on layoffs due to budget cuts.  Many districts have also recently announced to meet contract deadlines on April 15.  I don't understand how TX is not more in the national conversation with the level of cuts happening. LIFO is alive and well. Junior teachers are being let go. It is also affecting TFA in Houston. Charters like KIPP, Yes and Harmony are growing and are also hit by the budget cuts.
