An email from ed warrior and entrepreneur Chris Barbic:

1)                   YES Prep Public Schools was named a Top 10 Best Place to Work in Houston (we are #8) for the second year in a row . . . only school or school system to ever make this list.  Link is below.  I mention this because so many of our naysayers talk about how high-performing charters "churn" through teachers and that the long hours and tough work are unsustainable and that we don't create great work environments.  Yet another myth.  We have proven this wrong for over a decade and now have a tangible award to hold out as proof.  Feel like it is important to share with folks who read your blog.  Thanks! www.bizjournals.com/houston/news/2011/06/08/hbj-names-best-places-to-work-in-2011.html?page=2

2)                   July 15th is my last day at YES Prep and I start my new gig as Superintendent of the Achievement School District in TN on Aug 1st.  I am looking for a great person to head up our charter work . . . I'll be authorizing charters as part of our strategy to restart the lowest performing schools.  The job description for Charter School Portfolio Director is [at the end of this email].

Interested candidates should send their resume and cover letter to: Laura Ludolph at laura.ludolph@yesprep.org. Would appreciate it if you could help me get the word out.
