The National Report Card on Higher Education

At http://measuringup.highereducation.org/ is a just-released study called The National Report Card on Higher Education.  To summarize, most states appear to be doing better (there's a nice state-by-state breaksdown), but college is becoming increasing unaffordable as costs skyrocket far above inflation and income.  Another huge problem is that, while our college participation rate is high, our college COMPLETION rate is quite low.  Finally, our educational preeminence via-a-vis other developed countries is rapidly dwindling -- our rate of IMPROVEMENT in college completion over time is DEAD LAST!
