For those of you in DC on the 24th, this looks well worth attending

Mark your calendars for an exciting book debut at the Thomas B.
Fordham Institute on February 24.

The Black-White Achievement Gap: Why Closing It Is the Greatest Civil
Rights Issue of Our Time
by Rod Paige, former U.S. Secretary of Education, and Elaine Witty,
former Dean of Education at Norfolk State University

This bold book provides a wake-up call—and explicit challenge—to black
leaders and communities nationwide. It traces the history of the
achievement gap, examines popular explanations for it, and offers
strong suggestions for closing it. This, the authors forcefully argue,
would do more to advance racial equality and social justice in America
than any other civil rights strategy available today.

Presenter:

Rod Paige, Former U.S. Secretary of Education

Discussants:

Hugh B. Price, Former President and CEO, National Urban League

James Forman, Jr., Professor, Georgetown Law School

Moderator:

Chester E. Finn, Jr., President, Thomas B. Fordham Institute
