Charter critics turn to Yogi-isms

Funny (and true!):

Charter critics turn to Yogi-isms

When you use any available logic to oppose something, you find yourself saying funny things <http://en.wikiquote.org/wiki/Yogi_Berra> . In the charter school debates, the latest example making the rounds is this gem:

- Wall Street people are giving away their money to charter schools. All they care about is profit!

It joins a list of other classic absurdities, including:

- Charter schools shouldn't be expanded; they serve too few children.

- Charter schools don't make enough difference on standardized tests, which are meaningless.

- Charter schools are underregulated – just look at the problems the regulators caught!

And my personal favorite:

- Charter schools are drawing too much attention, as I explain at length in my book.

So what's the real logic behind opposition to charter schools? As Mr. Berra once put it, "You can observe a lot just by watching."
