Raw Malice From Anti-charter Columnist - Gonzalez Serves Up the Usual
Peter Murphy with a nice smackdown of NY Daily News columnist Juan Gonzalez:
Would that Juan Gonzalez was merely shallow, or lazy. He's worse. He was informed of all these facts and deliberately ignored them. Why? Because he hates charter schools so much that he's willing to paint a warped and dishonest picture to the readers of the Daily News, hoping that state policymakers are gullible enough to swallow what he's selling.
Only a cheap-shot columnist with an ax to grind could insinuate fault with a philanthropic organization putting state-of-the-art facilities over the heads of inner city students at a fraction of the cost and time it takes a school district to accomplish. But, that's 'ol Juan Gonzalez. Absent the charitable mission of the Brighter Choice Foundation it would have been impossible to construct these facilities with the deck so stacked against charter schools.
It's one thing to disagree with charter schools and debate the issue. Juan Gonzalez's bile goes much deeper, and his mendacity against charter schools should be seen for what it is - and rejected.
I'm not one to suggest Mr. Gonzalez gets any kickback or bonus from charter opponents for penning his fiction. If he did, he's earned it.
