Noble and the Renaissance Schools Fund

I was in Chicago for 19 hours on Thursday and Friday, giving my school reform presentation to a group of business leaders at one of the Noble charter schools.  Also giving presentations and joining me for the Q&A were Mike Milke, founder of Noble, and Phyllis Lockett, CEO of the Renaissance Schools Fund.

Both are fabulous organizations.  Noble (www.noblenetwork.org) runs 10 charter high schools in Chicago that are knocking the cover off the ball by – surprise! – adopting the "No Excuses" model.  (At the end of this email are 9 pictures from my visit.)  The Renaissance Schools Fund raises money, engages in advocacy, etc. to "catalyze the creation of exceptional public school options in Chicago communities that need them most." (www.rsfchicago.org).  It has created 69 schools in Chicago.
